Happy New Year everyone & congratulations to Hawea for putting itself on the map! Yes it is true after years of being a small dot on the edge of the Wanaka map or an even smaller speck on the edge of Queenstown, Hawea has come of age & now is a "Destination" thanks to a small group of dedicated Hawea business people who were sick of always having to give directions to lost & confused members of the public.
The map suitably titled "Destination Hawea" covers the Lake to just above The Neck & Kidd's Bush with detailed street maps of Lake Hawea & Hawea Flat. Walking & Biking tracks in the area are shown as are popular swimming & fishing spots & of course Nook Road Nursery is marked making it very easy to find us now folks - just call into the I-site in Wanaka, Lake Hawea Motors or Sailz in Lake Hawea & pick up a copy of the map.

The map was funded by the business people of Hawea who have listings on the reverse side making it an excellent resource for visitors & locals alike - it will tell you where to find accommodation, meals, a load of firewood, new tyres for the car, a haircut, acupuncture & many more essential services, it was quite amazing when putting this part of the map together to find out how many businesses are based in the Hawea area there are 50 listed but this is by no means all, its a vibrant & growing community.
