Here we are at the start of a brand new year with a very clean and tidy shed as Jamie's son Locky & his beautiful wife Anna had planned to get married in the potting shed in early January so there was a mad flurry of cleaning and tidying of the shed and shade house. At the last minute they decided on a marquee on the front lawn which worked very well and has left us with something of a clean slate to start the year with. The gardens also got a hurry up and are looking very pretty with added bits of flowery colour, and yes the weeds definitely did not take a break, the rain we had plus a few warm days really spurred them on to greater heights (some in the bags are bigger than the plants!) Marg is back to work now & has declared war on all foreigners even if they do have nice flowers.
This week the shed is being reassembled so we can do some potting & propagation, I am going to be working on a fruit tree/ specimen tree order so if anyone has any requests for the next tree season please contact us.
The dry spring had us wondering how long we were going to be able to be in business as some days the only people we saw were those wanting a donation for a worthy cause & while we are always happy to support local efforts we also have to feed our families & run a business both of which seem to get more costly by the day. Since we have reopened after christmas & the recent rains things feel a little more hopeful, this year I would really like to encourage people to support local enterprises & would ask you all to spread the word about us to any friends & family who are thinking of planting a tree or garden or who may just need a bit of advice.
Happy New Planting Year everyone!
