Spring Greetings everyone – although at this very minute it is more like winter with rain lashing us & new snow on the hills this morning it is positively chilly & I am very glad I resisted the impulse to plant my runner beans & zuccinis in the weekend.
Next weekend is Labour Weekend which is traditionally when people look at planting their vegetable garden in this part of the world, Jamie’s advice though is wait until all the snow is gone from Mt Roy (this morning has set that back a bit). We haven’t stocked any little flower & vege plants for the past few years deciding they were too much trouble for too little return this year however with the renewed interest in growing your own food we decided to give them another go. So for a limited time we will have a range of vegetable & flowering annual seedlings priced at the moment at $3.50 each, we have tried to get a range of things we know will grow well here.
Specimen trees – these are all bagged & in the tree lanes growing let me know if you would like a list or check our web site as I plant to update the list there re availability.
Fruit trees – most sold out we just have some currants & thornless blackberries & a few Quince trees left.
Art @ The Nook – over Labour weekend we will have some of the local artists selling & exhibiting their work: Di Turnbull with her Wyndrok Pottery, Deb Ballantyne with paintings, Laetitia Campe with prints & Blair Martin with a lovely concrete garden bench & some clever candle holders – any of the above would make great gifts or additions to your own home. We like to support the local economy as much as possible & appreciate it when locals in turn support us, it would be a boring world indeed if we lost the artists & small traders of the area.
Hours over Labour Weekend – 10am – 4pm daily (Saturday, Sunday & Monday)
Ronald McDonald Family fun Day – Monday 24th 12pm – 4pm – loads of fun for all the family – games, rides, face painting, cups of tea, sausage sizzle & heaps more
Come on out & support this worthwhile cause. Our (actually Anna & Locky’s but a big part of the Nook Whanau) little Matilda who was supported by the Ronald McDonald people when she was born is 6 months old now & doing so well she is such a cutie smiling & gooing & jolly jumping all over the place.
Specials – we will have some bargain plants over Labour Weekend starting at $1
Let me know if we can help with your garden or plants in any way.
Cheers
Diana
